About Middle Years Programme
Middle Years Programme (MYP)
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Shahid Mahdavi Educational Foundation is a framework of international education designed for students aged 11 to 16. It encourages students to become creative, critical, and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, fostering connections between academic subjects and real-world applications. This programme consists of eight subject groups: language acquisition, language and literature, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education, and design. MYP projects, including personal and community projects, provide students the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in the real-life contexts. MYP eAssessment focuses on conceptual understanding and the ability to apply knowledge in complex, unfamiliar situations. It offers a robust and reliable assessment of student achievement.
MYP Teachers at SMEF Focus on:
- Contextual Learning: Relating subjects to real-world situations.
- Conceptual Understanding: Developing deep understanding of core ideas.
- Approaches to Learning (ATL): Cultivating essential skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and research.
- Service as Action: Engaging in community service to make a positive impact.
- Language and Identity: Developing language skills and cultural awareness.
The MYP at SMEF prepares students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become informed, responsible, and compassionate international-minded citizens.
