eAssessment

About eAssessment:

Each year, the MYP section at SMEF conducts the official IB eAssessment exams for Year 5 (Grade 10) students as part of the final stage of their Middle Years Programme. The process is meticulously planned and implemented in accordance with IB regulations to ensure a smooth and secure administration of both on-screen examinations and ePortfolio components.

Preparation begins well in advance, with students being gradually familiarized with the exam format, command terms, and assessment criteria through modeled tasks, mock exams, and formative assessments integrated into classroom instruction. Teachers collaborate to align instruction with eAssessment standards and to offer targeted support where needed.

The school designates a secure and supervised digital examination environment, typically held in a well-equipped class with stable internet access. During the official exam window set by the IB (typically in May), students sit for on-screen exams in subjects such as Language and Literature, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and the Interdisciplinary examination. The school follows IB guidelines for exam conduct, including invigilation, time management, and accommodations for students with approved access arrangements.

In addition to the on-screen exams, students also complete and submit ePortfolio tasks in subjects such as Physical and Health Education, Design, Arts, and Language Acquisition. These are uploaded to the IB platform after being internally assessed by teachers and standardized according to IB protocols.

Throughout the process, clear communication is maintained with students and parents regarding exam schedules, expectations, and support systems. The MYP Coordinator oversees the entire process, ensuring compliance with IB requirements and supporting students’ readiness and well-being.

This rigorous yet supportive approach reflects SMEF’s commitment to academic excellence and to preparing students for success in the IB Diploma Programme and beyond.
